A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an eight-year-old girl and man, 34, were shot in a car in west London
Met Police say the girl has "serious gunshot injuries" and is still in surgery - though her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening
A two-year-old child and a woman were also in the car - they were unharmed; the 34-year-old man has "potentially life-changing injuries.
One woman, who didn't want to be named, told the PA News Agency that she was "scared" after the shooting took place on Sunday.
She describes how she was cooking and thought fireworks were being let off, before she discovered what happened when armed police arrived.
Another local, Muraad Haab, did not see the attack, but said he'd seen three shootings since living there.
Long-time resident Lloyd Markham tells PA that the area had seemed like a "safe place to live" during the last 25 years he has spent there, but he says the news of the shooting concerns him.
Supt Owen Renowden said the eight-year-old girl injured in Sunday's shooting remains in surgery, but is in a stable condition
The 34-year-old man, who was also shot inside the vehicle which was fired upon, remains in hospital in a critical condition and may have potentially "life-changing injuries"
Two more people - a two year-old child and a 32-year-old woman - were also in the car but were not injured
One man, aged 22, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody
Another witness, aged 64, who spoke to Metro, described the girl's mother shouting.
"I heard shots, and then a woman shouting, 'My baby, my baby's been shot'... it makes me sick to think about it now," they said.
"There were four or five shots, there was screaming, it's horrible. A neighbour went out with a duvet to cover the injured."
A resident said he had previously witnessed "three shootings" in the area.
Muraad Haab, who did not see the attack on Sunday, said: "I've seen three shootings. Someone who was shooting their gun before, they shot my window."
Another resident, 60-year-old Lloyd Markham, said: "I've lived here about 25 years, and it seems like a really safe place to live, but now you start to hear about all these stabbings and shootings.
