Ancyclostoma infection is a parasitic disease caused by Ancyclostoma species (also known as hookworm). The larvae and adult worms live in the small intestine and can cause intestinal disease. These infections generally occur in regions where human feces are used a fertilizer or defecation into the soil occurs.
The most common serious symptoms that occur are anemia and protein deficiency. This generally affects children more than adults and can lead to lack of growth and issues with mental development.
